Erwin Wurm: Tell

Erwin Wurm's video TELL shows a couple driving through Vienna in a car. As they start discussing what could happen if one ate a special kind of sandwich, the car suddenly drives vertically up a house wall. The car stops. The couple gets out and walks down the wall. According to the interpretation of Eva Maria Stadler, curator at Belvedere, "Erwin Wurm plays with irritation in his sculptures, films, and installations. A brief moment of inattentiveness might change everything in a way one would have thought impossible just before. Thus, Wurm's works contain asparagus in nostrils, houses on other houses, or people in awkwardly twisted postures with balls, fruit, or other objects. Erwin Wurm reacts to changeability, flexibility, and uncertainty with deformity and deformation."
